Have you noticed the stresses and strains of life taking a toll on you, physically and mentally?

If so, you’re not alone! We demand so much from our mind, body and soul, we often forget that in order to function at our best and heal, we need time to rest and recover.

When we experience stress our body triggers a ‘fight, flight or freeze’ response, putting all of our body’s systems into survival mode, designed to protect us. When this response fires for a prolonged amount of time, it causes our stress levels to stay elevated far longer than is necessary for survival. This is when we begin to notice physical and mental symptoms of stress. Including: Headaches, insomnia, high blood pressure, acid reflux, heart palpitations and many more.

So why choose reflexology?

Reflexology is an ancient holistic therapy that naturally restores balance, using specific techniques to relax the body and stimulate the nervous system; providing the perfect environment and opportunity to reduce stress and allow deep healing to take place.

It has been proven to be effective in promoting a sense of deep relaxation and restoring the natural homeostasis of the body. Reflexology is a touch therapy, based on the theory that areas (referred to as reflexes) of the feet, lower leg, hands, face and ears correspond with different areas/organs of the body. These reflexes are worked with the intention of restoring balance, clearing blockages and restoring the body to a state of natural self healing.

Having reflexology on a regular basis can help counteract the detrimental effects that prolonged stress and anxiety can have on the body. Stand alone sessions are also very beneficial in providing an immediate sense of calm and relaxation.

Following a treatment, you may notice an improvement in your quality of sleep, as well as your mood and overall sense of wellbeing. Some people may feel an emotional release, experience a mild headache or notice an increased need to urinate. This is a natural response to the body removing toxins and these symptoms usually subside within 24 hours. Many people find that other aspects of their health improve following regular sessions, however, this happens on an individual basis and as reflexologists, we do not claim to diagnose or cure conditions.
